Growing up near the banks of the Tanana River in a boreal forest, I always had a deep appreciation for the natural world of Alaska.

The plants and animals of the forests I wandered as a child impacted who I became. With my art, I attempt to take a step back in time to my childhood, when my interactions with a snowshoe hare or a patch of ripe cranberries gave me a deep sense of place and peace in the world. I want to share the beauty and sense of peace that one can gain from taking in all that the natural world offers us.

I spend time in the forest in the summer and autumn sketching, photographing, and drinking in the unique smells and sounds of Alaska’s wild places. When the weather turns cold, I take the materials I’ve gathered into my studio to create woodcuts, monotypes, and etching images in my own style.
